Selection of books I have read
With such successful stories like Harry Potter and Hunger Games, it is easy to forget some of the great books of the past. Well let me introduce some of my favorites.
I can honestly say that my English improved dramatically through reading when I was younger. Moreover, I like to read for entertainment (as well as play video games and watch movies). I would like to share a few of my favorite books with you.
This is the first book I remember loving as a kid. See if you also find it entertaining (though you might be a bit older than I was when I read it).
This story was written almost a 100 years ago, and it was intended as a young reader's book, like the Harry Potter books today.
The greatest trilogy of all time, these books continue the epic story started in the Hobbit. A challenging story for advanced readers. This book will truly expand you vocabulary.
A tale of middle America from before my time. But it is a very interesting drama of class struggle among teenagers. This is a common book for middle school students in the US.
I know you may not like poems, but Shel Silverstein's poems were so entertaining. Read a couple before you make judgment.
This may not be a book you would think of, but it was a great look into 19th century Russia from a great write of the time.
